With 113 votes in favour and none against, the Albanian Parliament adopted the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica Thursday, which condemns the crime committed by the Serb forces led by Ratko Mladic, who was sentenced in The Hague to life imprisonment, Euronews Albania reports. Members of the opposition also took part in the vote.
As Euronews recalled, the Srebrenica genocide is a tragedy that occurred in July 1995 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, when over 8,000 non-Serbs, primarily men and boys aged 12 to 77, were killed in a few days.
The genocide was carried out in the area of Srebrenica by the Army of Republika Srpska under the leadership of Ratko Mladic, and the infamous paramilitary unit “Scorpions” also participated in the crime.
The International Court in The Hague declared the crime in Srebrenica to be genocide.
