The Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Srdjan Amidzic, stated Wednesday that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has invested $402 million in Bosnia. However, there is no available information on how $246.18 million of that amount was spent.

According to USAID reports, $155.82 million has been accounted for, yet Amidzic highlighted that details regarding 54 projects remain undisclosed.

"There is no trace of where this substantial sum has gone or who made the decisions on its allocation," Amidzic said at a press conference in Sarajevo.

He further noted that recent statements from the new US administration and President regarding USAID's operations suggest possible misuse of funds, with allegations that billions were siphoned off, some of it used to fund media outlets favourable to the Democratic Party.

"I have instructed the Ministry of Finance and Treasury to examine these claims based on the available information and to inform the public about USAID’s activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. If there are any concerns, relevant institutions should pursue further investigations," Amidzic stated.

He emphasised that the Ministry is legally required to compile an annual report on the activities of development partners in BiH, ensuring transparency in foreign aid expenditure.

Regarding the Development Partners Coordination Forum, Amidzic clarified that USAID is a member and that each partner independently reports on its activities and projects. The Ministry merely consolidates the data submitted by these partners, including USAID.
