The Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Monsignor Tomo Vuksic, has sent a congratulatory message from Rome to Professor Nedzad Grabus following his election as the new Grand Mufti (Reis-ul-Ulema) of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, praising his longstanding commitment to interfaith cooperation, personal integrity and contribution to religious dialogue.

In his message, Archbishop Vuksic said Grabus's election reflected the trust and respect he had earned through his work, reputation and approach to others.
“Your work in various fields, your personal reputation and your manner of dealing with people have clearly recommended you, in the eyes of those who cast their votes, for an even more responsible position,” Vuksic wrote.
Recalling their longstanding cooperation within the Interreligious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Archbishop noted that their professional relationship had developed over many years of meetings and joint initiatives.
“We have met on various occasions and worked together for years within the Interreligious Council, where we came to know each other even better. Therefore, when the news of your election arrived, it was news to me, but not a surprise,” he said.
Vuksic also expressed hope that their cooperation would continue, particularly in areas promoting human dignity, the common good, interreligious dialogue, peace and social harmony in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I pray that God may bless your future service to the Islamic Community and each of its members, as well as our cooperation in everything that serves God's glory, the dignity of every human being, the common good, the promotion of dialogue, and the strengthening of peace and social harmony in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the Archbishop concluded.
Nedzad Grabus was elected the 14th Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 10, succeeding Husein Kavazovic, who has led the institution since 2012.
Before his election, Grabus served as the Mufti of Sarajevo and previously held the position of Mufti of Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 2006 to 2021. He has been actively involved in interreligious dialogue and cooperation across the region for many years.
