The Trade Union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for August 2021 amounted to 2,524.81 Bosnian marks (some €1,295) and is 454.02 marks (around €233) more expensive than the consumer basket for the previous month.

The average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for June 2021 was 999 marks according to the latest data published by the FBiH Bureau of Statistics, (approx. €512) and 17 marks (some €8) higher than the amount in the previous month. Thus, the coverage of the Trade Union Consumer Basket with the average salary is 39.57 percent, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH announced.

When calculating the consumer basket, the average salary paid in Bosnia’s Federation entity was taken into account, as well as the minimum living costs of a family of four consisting of two adults and two children, one of who is in high school and the other in primary school.

The consumer basket consists of the following categories: food 37.3 percent, housing and utility services 12.3 percent, hygiene and health care 5.7 percent, education and culture 22.6 percent, clothing and footwear 11.2 percent, transportation 5.5 percent and household maintenance 4.8 percent.

In the food category, prices from three shopping centres were used for 86 items. When it comes to hygiene and health, the costs for twelve (12) items were included, and for housing and utility services the costs for six (6) items were taken into account.
