A consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the month of July 2022 amounts to 2,668 marks (approx 1,335 euro) and is by 28 marks (14 euro) more expensive compared to June 2022.
An average salary paid in Bosnia's Federation entity (FBiH) for the month of May 2022 was 1,110 marks (approx 550 euro), according to the latest data published by the Federation's Statistics Institute, while the minimum wage as foreseen by the FBiH Government's decision is 543 marks (approx 270 euro).
The FBiH is one of two Bosnia's semi-autonomous regions and covers half of the country's territory. That is also where the country's capital city of Sarajevo is located.
Given the available statistics, the coverage of the consumer basket by the average salary is 41.59%, while the minimum wage covers only 20.35% of it.
The Trade Union Federation took into account average salary paid in the Federation entity, as well as the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is a high school and the other an elementary school student.
