Speaking before the military-style parade in East Sarajevo on the occasion of the unconstitutional January 9 event marking the Day of Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Banja Luka Mayor Drasko Stanivukovic said Monday, that Serbs can no longer fall for stories about some brotherhood and unity,

“I want to use the opportunity to congratulate everyone on the RS Day, the glory of Republika Srpska. The fact is that this is a very important day when the Day of Republika Srpska is celebrated and my message is that every day is the day of the RS. We can contribute to it every day and do something important for the RS. Every day is very important. Republika Srpska is not an accidental creation, it is the age-old aspiration of the Serb people to be bordered by their statehood. This means that wherever we didn’t have our institutions, we experienced horrors. We can no longer fall for stories about some brotherhood and unity, which means that we do not have our own state and institutions. Several times in the course of our history we have fallen for it. The result of all our delusions and deceptions, all our suffering, is the Republika Srpska,” Stanivuković said, among other things.

Several associations submitted criminal charges to the BiH Prosecutor's Office for “disobeying the Decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, for disrupting and supporting the constitutional and legal order of BiH, and illegally organizing a provocative militaristic parade and promoting the rhetoric of division and hatred by the authorities of the BiH entity of Republika Srpska.”

The Office of the High Representative also reacted to the January 9 event saying that participation in such an event may have consequences and recalled the obligation of all the stakeholders in the country to adhere to the constitutional and legal order of BiH.
