Bosnian national basketball team will not allow the interference of politics in their affairs and will work only to represent the country in basketball, said chairman of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and former national team member Mirza Teletovic.

Speaking in N1's Pressing, Teletovic talked about the latest success that the women's national team achieved on the international stage, by qualifying to the EuroBasket quarter-finals and about the problems this association is facing, with the lack of financial support being the most substantial part of those problems.

“Since I was appointed, the Basketball Federation has always been in a problem. We didn't even have our own premises,” said Teletovic, adding that his main goal was to assemble a team of people who were related to basketball or sports in general and to build on that.

Asked to comment on the fact that the competent ministry rejected the request for financial support for the participation of the women's team in the EuroBasket this year because of a punctuation error in the written request, he said he would like to leave that behind.

“I am not used to regret over something that didn't succeed. They found a ‘comma’ and that is fine. But, we managed to achieve a great result even without that. That's over now, I never look back,” said Teletovic.

However, he singled out the support of some institutions and companies.

“The Olympic Committee of BiH helps every year. They provided some money this year as well. There is also the Ministry of Sports of Sarajevo Canton and the Civil Affairs Ministry of BiH.”

Asked who helped the most, Teletovic replied that those sponsors are visible on the national team jerseys.

“Anyone can see that.”

He also confirmed that the Bosnian Presidency and its three members were always helpful and supporting the Basketball Federation but that many decisions were depending on the Council of Ministers, that is, the government.
