Becirovic meets French envoy Troccaz ahead of talks with President Macron

The Presidency member emphasised that France, as one of the key members of both the European Union (EU) and NATO, plays a vital role in preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region. He underlined the importance of protecting Bosnia's constitutional order, warning that any attempt to undermine it would open the door to anarchy with unforeseeable consequences.

According to Becirovic’s office, Bosnia has fully aligned its foreign policy with the EU’s foreign and security policy over the past three years. This, he stressed, confirms the country’s status as a reliable ally of the EU and the West and reaffirms its commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration.

The statement further noted that BiH remains firmly committed to its EU and NATO path, regardless of political pressures, threats, or irresponsible actions by certain domestic actors seeking to alter the country’s unanimously defined foreign policy orientation. Bećirović stressed that accession to full EU and NATO membership has no credible alternative.

French envoy Rene Troccaz reiterated France’s strong support for Bosnia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He underlined the importance of respecting the country’s legal framework and continuing the integration process into the EU.

Both sides agreed that France’s engagement within the EU and NATO, as well as its support for Bosnia’s European and Euro-Atlantic path, represents an essential pillar for advancing reforms and strengthening democratic institutions in the country.

This meeting marks the fifth encounter between Becirovic and Troccaz in the past year, underscoring the continuity and openness of political dialogue between Bosnia and France.
