The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not approved the entry of Serbian military personnel into the country. This activity was also not part of the bilateral cooperation plan between the ministries of defense of BiH and Serbia, according to BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic.
“Relevant state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, must quickly determine all circumstances and facts regarding this event. The parade of the Serbian Army in Prijedor, a city where non-Serbs were marked with white armbands before being taken to concentration camps, is yet another indication of the beginning of the implementation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's Greater Serbia and anti-Dayton declaration adopted on June 8 in Belgrade,” Becirovic stated.
He also called for international response, urging the international community to take the adopted Declaration seriously as it violates international law and Bosnia's sovereignty. He announced a meeting with the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, to discuss the issue.
“The OHR, EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUFOR, NATO, and Dayton Agreement witness states need to thoroughly assess Serbia's policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. Serbia, as ruled by the International Court of Justice, failed to prevent the genocide in Srebrenica, and thus, the Serbian Army has no right to be present on Bosnian territory,” Becirovic concluded.
