Becirovic warns against destabilization efforts following Dodik’s verdict

Becirovic emphasized that court rulings are not directed against any ethnic group in Bosnia, stating that Dodik’s reaction is an unprecedented attempt to destabilize the country for personal interests. He stressed that courts judge individuals, not nations, and accused Dodik of acting as if he alone represents an entire people and entity.
In response to the situation, Becirovic called for lawful actions to protect Bosnia’s constitutional order, ensuring peace and stability. He warned against spreading panic and misinformation and reaffirmed that violations of the law will have consequences.
He also pointed to longstanding unconstitutional actions by Dodik and the SNSD, including illegal referendums and decisions by the RS National Assembly that violated state laws and Constitutional Court rulings.
Becirovic urged domestic institutions, including the Constitutional Court, Prosecutor’s Office, and security agencies, to uphold Bosnia’s legal framework, while also calling on the international community, including OHR, EUFOR, and NATO, to ensure the Dayton Peace Agreement is respected. He reiterated that EUFOR should seek reinforcements and NATO should increase its presence in Bosnia.
Regarding state security agencies, he stressed that SIPA and others must operate strictly within their legal mandates. He also criticized Presidency Chair Zeljka Cvijanovic for failing to convene an emergency session, accusing her of violating procedural rules.
“The state of Bosnia and Herzegovina will prevail. It won’t be easy, but we will not abandon our country,” Becirovic concluded.
