Becirovic warns State Dept of RS' lobbying against Bosnia's sovereignty

During the meeting, Becirovic emphasized that the decades-long strategic partnership with the United States is of crucial importance for maintaining peace and stability, as well as the overall progress of Bosnia.

The Presidency member pointed out scandalous contracts between the entity of Republika Srpska and certain lobbying firms. He stated that these contracts explicitly involve lobbying for the dismantling of the internationally recognized state of the country.

"This represents anti-Dayton and unconstitutional action directed against peace and security," Becirovic remarked.

He stressed that this constitutes an escalation not seen in over 30 years of the Dayton Agreement's implementation, asserting that the realization of such destructive and dangerous policies must not be allowed.

Regarding energy, Becirovic highlighted that the implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection project is a strategic energy project significant for energy security and the diversification of gas supply sources. He noted that the Southern Gas Interconnection contributes to strengthening the energy independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the issue of state property, Becirovic emphasized that it must be resolved in accordance with the final and binding decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

During the meeting, Hanrahan reiterated the unequivocal support of the US, under the administration of incumbent President Donald Trump, for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order of BiH. He emphasized that the United States remains consistently committed to preserving peace and stability in the country.

Furthermore, Hanrahan expressed full support for the implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection project, underscoring its importance for the energy security, economic stability, and resilience of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
