Writing on his Instagram account, Vucic stated that he and Dodik reviewed all topics of significance and noted that important decisions regarding this project will be made in the coming days. The Donja Gradina memorial area marks the largest execution site of the WW2 Jasenovac concentration camp, located at the confluence of the Una and Sava rivers, where hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews, Roma, and anti-fascists were killed.

Vucic previously committed to building the site during a recent Day of Remembrance ceremony, stating that Serbia will fully finance the magnificent Memorial Center. He emphasized that access to the site will never be restricted to anyone, drawing a contrast with current restrictions that prevent officials from visiting Jasenovac to lay wreaths and flowers.
