BHRT faces account blockade threatening general election coverage

Management warned that the freeze prevents the broadcaster from covering election events or settling fundamental financial obligations, including employee salaries, health insurance, daily allowances, production costs, and field reporting infrastructure for election night.
"BHRT has had its accounts blocked and operations disabled at the very moment the election campaign for the General Elections begins. Is that really a coincidence?" the broadcaster stated, pointing to what it describes as a selective enforcement of final court rulings. BHRT noted that while its accounts were frozen following a ruling involving mutual financial obligations with RTRS, corresponding enforcement measures to secure more than 5.4 million KM (approximately €2,761,000) owed by RTRS have not been implemented.
Calling on domestic institutions, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, the OHR, the OSCE, the EU Delegation, and the Peace Implementation Council to intervene urgently, BHRT stressed that the crisis extends far beyond a financial dispute.
"This is not just about BHRT's financial problem. It endangers the right of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be informed in a timely, professional, objective, accurate, and complete manner about the electoral process," management cautioned, warning that neither the public service nor citizens should be held hostage by uneven legal enforcement. The official campaign period for the upcoming elections officially commences on September 4.
