Bosnia and Herzegovina has shown where it sees its present and future and its decisions to join all the positions and decisions of the European Union (EU) regarding Ukraine and sanctions against the Russian Federation. In our circumstances, these were legal, reasonable decisions, but they were not easy or simple at all, Bosnia’s Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic said Tuesday, in Sarajevo.

Turkovic met with her Greek counterpart Nikolaos Dendias after which a joint press conference was held.

Turkovic said that she had talked very openly with her Greek counterpart about the current situation, not only in BiH, but also in the region and throughout Europe.

The Minister added that awareness in Brussels and other European capitals is growing as to why and due to what kind of policy and constitutional order, Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently not in a position to meet the 14 preconditions from the European Commission's Opinion on time.

“We expect that the EU and NATO, as well as key world powers, will coordinate special “tailor-made” programmes, very soon, that will put BiH on track of progress and prevent the crisis from spilling over from Ukraine to this part of Europe.”

The Program of bilateral cooperation between the BiH and Greek Defence Ministry and the is signed every year. The two also talked about expanding the existing cooperation in that regard.

In the end, Turkovic thanked her Greek colleague Dendias, especially for the donations from the coronavirus vaccine from July last year, which Greece sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina when it needed them.
