Directors of three cultural institutions - Art Gallery of BiH, History Museum of BiH and Museum of Literature and Theater Arts of BiH sent a letter to decision-makers at all levels of government, due to the unresolved status and method of financing.
“We are addressing you on behalf of cultural institutions whose status and funding method has not been resolved even after thirty (30) years. As you know, we are talking about perhaps the most important institutions that inherit this country's priceless cultural and artistic treasures and are currently on the verge of decay,” the letter states.
The signatories added that they believe that as the most responsible people of the new ruling coalition, they have the obligation, but also the opportunity, to finally take steps and make decisions that will solve their problem.
“We remind you that not a single government in the past thirty years, not a single High Representative, wanted or knew how to deal with this problem and solve it in an appropriate way. We suggest that you immediately form an interdepartmental body made up of the most responsible professional and political actors, which would work, with our help, on coming up with a solution,” the signatories suggested.
The letter was addressed to Nermin Niksic, leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Prime Minister of the Federation entity, Elmedin Konakovic, the leader of the People and Justice (NIP) party and BiH Foreign Minister, Edin Forto, the leader of Our Party (NS) and BiH Communications and Transport Minister, Dubravka Bosnjak, BiH Civil Affairs Minister, Sanja Vlaisavljevic, FBiH Culture and Sports Minister and Kenan Magoda, Sarajevo Canton’s Minister of Culture and Sports.
