BiH Defense Minister Sifet Podzic said on Wednesday that the current situation in Ukraine was to be expected and expressed concern that the situation could be “an introduction into a third world war.”
“Unfortunately, in 2008 we had the situation in Georgia, the issue of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and in 2014 we had Crimea. It was to be expected that what happened would happen when Putin made the decision to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk. I will be honest, I think that once again, unfortunately, the EU has shown that it is very difficult or impossible to have a common foreign and security policy,” Podzic said.
The minister argued that the crisis will have consequences for the Balkans as well.
“I am quite worried that these measures go that far,” he said, adding “it can not be ruled out that this is an introduction into the Third World War.”
