BiH election turnout at 20.6% by 2 p.m., more than 702,000 voters cast ballots

Voter turnout in Bosnia and Herzegovina stood at 20.6 percent by 2 p.m. on General Election day, with 702,234 people casting their ballots, according to the latest figures.

The latest turnout figures come as voting continues across the country until 7 p.m.

For comparison, turnout in the previous General Election, held four years ago, stood at 35 percent by 3 p.m. A total of 1,164,261 voters had cast their ballots by that time.

Voting will continue until 7 p.m., except at polling stations that did not open at the scheduled time of 7 a.m. At those locations, voting hours will be extended by the amount of time the opening was delayed.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has announced that the first preliminary results are expected to be released from 8 p.m. this evening.

A total of 5,569 polling stations have been opened across Bosnia and Herzegovina for this year’s General Election, while 3,408,517 voters are registered on the Central Voters’ Register.

Citizens are voting to elect members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives to the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the President of Republika Srpska, representatives to the entity parliaments, as well as representatives to the assemblies of the ten cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
