Borjana Kristo, the Chair of Bosnia's Council of Ministers, met with UK special envoy for the Western Balkans Sir Stuart Peach, thanking for immense support and help that the UK has been providing to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a friendly country. She also expressed hope this sort of support will continue in the future.
Kristo is paying a visit to London, where she will attend the coronation of King Charles III and his spouse Camilla at the Westminster Abbey.
The officials agreed that the relations between the two countries are exceptionally good and friendly, emphasising a continuous and intensive political dialogue and cooperation at various levels.
Bosnia's head of the government welcomed the strong political, economic and security support of the United Kingdom to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The intention of the UK to increase investments in the infrastructure of the Western Balkans through British investment partnerships is significant. In the long term, the development of relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UK lies in the strengthening of economic cooperation, primarily through the attraction of investments from the UK as well as through the transfer of knowledge and technology,” said the press release issued by her cabinet.
Peach emphasised that Great Britain is deeply committed to European security and added that the importance of peace and stability both in BiH and in the region is everyone's priority.
Kristo pointed out that during the first 100 days of the work of the Council of Ministers, significant steps were taken, and that the commitment of the Council of Ministers to European integration processes is unquestionable.
“Internal political circumstances in BiH were partially stabilised through continuous and intensive dialogue, which enabled the record-breaking establishment of government at the state level, and a few days ago at the level of the Federation of BiH entity,” the press release said.
She also said that it is a priority, within the next six months at the latest, to make limited changes to the Constitution of BiH and the overall amendment of the electoral legislation in such a way as to ensure the real constitutional equality of all three constituent peoples. She added that for this reason it is necessary to implement the judgment of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on legitimate representation at all administrative and political levels, as well as the implementation of all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
