BiH Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic and Presidency members Sefik Dzaferovic and Milorad Dodik met on Friday with the Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher.
BiH Presidency members thanked for the material, spiritual and political help and support that the Holy See has been providing to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the past 30 years, and for advocating interreligious dialogue, tolerance and equality of members of all faiths.
Pope Francis shows great interest in the socio-political situation in Bosnia and strongly supports coexistence in the country, emphasizing that diversity is wealth, Gallagher said.
The Presidency members and Gallagher also discussed the current political situation in the country, its EU accession path, for which there is a consensus, and the demographic situation in Bosnian society.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors stated that the relations between BiH and the Vatican are extremely good and friendly, with space for additional strengthening and intensification, the BiH Presidency said in a statement.
Gallagher is on a four-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and will visit three bishop seats, in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, where he will celebrate Mass in cathedrals with the message of peace, justice, reconciliation and progress in every sense.
