BiH Presidency member Cvijanovic meets MEP Correa in Istocno Sarajevo

Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency member Zeljka Cvijanovic met on Wednesday in Istocno Sarajevo with Antonio Tangere Correa, a Member of the European Parliament from the Patriots for Europe group, to discuss ongoing developments within the European Union, the prospects for its enlargement, as well as the situation in the Republika Srpska entity and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to an official statement, Cvijanovic briefed Correa on the complex political circumstances and the current crisis in BiH, which she attributed to what she described as “illegal foreign interventionism and the political instrumentalisation of the judiciary.”
She emphasised that such actions, carried out by High Representative Christian Schmidt and the state judiciary, are “unconstitutional and contrary to the Dayton Peace Agreement,” adding that these measures are also inconsistent with European values. Cvijanovic further stated that EU officials not only support these actions but also criticise Republika Srpska for opposing them.
Expressing regret over what she called the EU’s unilateral and unbalanced approach, Cvijanovic underlined that such practices do not contribute to stabilising Bosnia’s political situation, nor do they help the country advance on its European path.
