BiH Prosecution files first genocide denial indictment

Bosnia and Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office filed the first genocide denial indictment, charging Vojin Pavlovic for the crime.

“An indictment was filed for the crime of inciting ethnic, racial and religious hatred, discord and intolerance. The accused is charged with having knowingly and willingly approved the commission of the crime of genocide, showing posters on which he publicly approves and tries to justify the crime determined by the final judgments of the ICTY and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the president of the board of directors of the “Eastern Alternative” Association of Republika Srpska, in the period from June until July 12, 2023, in the area of Srebrenica and Bratunac, during the commemoration held on July 11, 2023, and the burial of victims of genocide in the municipality of Srebrenica,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.

The indictment states that the accused approved and tried to justify the crime of genocide by organizing a public meeting, making posters for holding the meeting available to the public, and giving a speech at the public meeting approving and trying to justify the crime of genocide established by final judgments of the ICTY and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this way he committed the crime of inciting ethnic, racial and religious hatred, discord and intolerance from Article 145a. paragraph 3 and paragraph 4 in connection with paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
