The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nesic, said that BiH is currently the least free country in the world and that the country’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity is actually fighting for the freedom and sovereignty of the state of BiH, which “foreigners” see as their “protectorate”.
“They (foreigners) simply see Bosnia and Herzegovina as their protectorate, a colony. If you say that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a sovereign state and that it should be decided by those who live in it, you get fabricated lies from them,” Nesic told “Politika”.
He argued that it has become “a normal thing” in Bosnia and Herzegovina for embassies to “write laws and issue directives to the authorities on what to do and how”.
“It seems that everyone has interests in BiH, and only those who live there are not allowed to have them. BiH is currently the least free country in the world. The RS, no matter how absurd it may be, is fighting for the freedom and sovereignty of BiH and that is where all the pressures on it come from,” Nesic said.
He strongly criticised the flyover of American military planes during the celebration of the unconstitutional January 9 as the Day of Republika Srpska, arguing that it represented “intimidation, pressure and a demonstration of force”.
“I don't understand what they wanted to achieve, but they don't understand that identity and one's feelings cannot be overridden by low-flying bombers. We survived many atrocities, but we preserved our identity,” said Nesic.
He also said that there was no consent from the BiH Presidency for the flyover.
He also commented on BiH’s path towards NATO membership.
“Imagine a joint aviation military exercise by NATO and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which do not even have a mock-up of an airplane,” said Nesic.
