BiH's FM Konakovic to visit US for Congress meetings, Sarajevo Haggadah event

During the trip, Konakovic will also take part in an event dedicated to the promotion of the Sarajevo Haggadah, set to be held on March 24 on Capitol Hill in Washington.

According to the official announcement, the event will bring together representatives of the US administration, Congress and Senate, along with members of religious communities from both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.

Organisers said the programme will highlight the universal values of interfaith solidarity, cooperation between communities and the protection of cultural heritage in times of conflict, while also stressing a shared responsibility to oppose all forms of persecution and discrimination.

The Sarajevo Haggadah, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most important cultural treasures, is being presented as a symbol of solidarity and humanity. Its history, the statement said, shows how individuals and communities protected values that transcend religious and ethnic divisions during some of the darkest periods of history.

Officials also said the event carries particular weight at a time of growing global challenges, including rising religious intolerance, Islamophobia and antisemitism.

In that context, the Capitol Hill gathering is intended to send a message about the importance of joint action in defending fundamental human values and preserving shared cultural heritage.
