Bilateral consultations on cooperation between the MoDs of BiH and Austria held in Sarajevo

Zoran Sajinovic, Assistant Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina for International Cooperation, and Sead Muratovic, Assistant Minister for Personnel Management, led a Ministry of Defence delegation that held bilateral consultations on defense cooperation with representatives of the Austrian Ministry of Defence today.

The Austrian side was led by Arnold Kammel, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and Brigadier Roland Stromberger, Head of the Department for Military Diplomacy, accompanied by the Austrian Defence Attaché to BiH, Brigadier Christian Hahn.
Both sides noted that defense cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria is excellent and discussed ways to further enhance and expand their partnership.
Sajinovic and Muratovic expressed particular appreciation for Austria’s continued support in training cadets from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the prestigious Theresian Military Academy.
The discussions also underscored the key role of the Austrian Armed Forces within the EUFOR mission in BiH and highlighted the importance of expert-level exchanges across various areas of the defense sector.
Further cooperation was discussed within the framework of the regional “Graz-Krems” initiative, along with expert dialogues on military heritage and seminars on arms control organized in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR).
The Austrian representatives emphasized that defense cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina remains a priority for Austria, as it contributes to stronger regional partnerships and greater stability across Southeast Europe.
