The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted a new strategy to combat corruption, announced Elmedin Konakovic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Konakovic described today's session as productive, noting that the majority of institutional activity reports were also approved. Addressing the issue of granting asylum to citizens from the Gaza Strip, he assured that there would be no problems.

“I believe we are one of the most efficient countries in the world in this area,” Konakovic told reporters, adding that all individuals had been thoroughly vetted.

He also commented on the reduction of the Office of the High Representative's (OHR) powers, stating that the idea originated from Moscow offices.

“Putin would like to see just one more condition fulfilled, to weaken the OHR or strip it of its authorities and powers,” Konakovic said.

He expressed hope that the Peace Implementation Council's meeting tomorrow would not move towards weakening the OHR.

“We are ready to respond promptly if that happens,” Konakovic concluded.
