Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at deepening cooperation in the tourism sector. The agreement was formalised today in Sarajevo by Stasa Kosarac, Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, and Sherif Fathy, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.

Both ministers agreed that the Memorandum will provide a solid foundation for enhancing tourism cooperation, stimulating future investment in tourism infrastructure, and fostering the exchange of professional expertise between the two countries. A joint tourism working group will be established, bringing together representatives from relevant institutions in the sector.

Minister Kosarac highlighted that tourism falls primarily under the constitutional jurisdiction of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, with the state-level ministry playing only a coordinating role. He outlined Bosnia’s diverse tourism offerings, citing winter, spa, and religious tourism, along with the natural beauty of its four national parks.

The ministers noted that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt are friendly and without outstanding issues. However, they stressed that there is considerable potential for expanding economic cooperation, particularly in tourism. Both agreed that the mutual abolition of visa requirements and the introduction of direct flights would significantly strengthen tourism links and increase the flow of visitors between the two nations.
