We can expect Germany’s stronger engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, BiH Presidency member Sefik Dzaferovic said Thursday after meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

“This was a very important meeting for BiH. It was successful and constructive. Germany is a great friend of BiH. They want to help BiH overcome the current crisis and continue on the European and NATO path, and on the path of overall reforms. My personal impression is that we can expect a stronger engagement of Germany in BiH and in the Western Balkans,” Dzaferovic said.

He added that this should help everyone.

“During the meeting, I said that the way out of this situation is to immediately unblock the institutions of BiH, that we must stop constantly threatening the territorial integrity of BiH, that we must stop the procedures diminishing the importance of reforms we have done so far and that all the previous conclusions (in the Republika Srpska entity parliament) must be put out of force,” said Dzaferovic.

He pointed out that everyone in BiH must respect the Dayton Agreement and that everyone wants the state of BiH to function properly in order to fully respect the principle of the rule of law and the reform process.
