The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) adopted the bank’s Financial Statements and the Decision on the distribution of the net profit concluding on December 31, 2023, in which the Central Bank achieved a net profit from 278,261,211.49 Bosnian marks (some € 142,273,209).

Based on the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Decision of the Bank’s Governing Board dated March 28, 2024, part of the realized profit in the amount of 64,319,561.58 marks (around € 32,886,069) was paid to the appropriate deposit account of the country’s Ministry of Finance and Treasury.

The CBBH stated that the financial result is a consequence of the timely undertaking of a series of investment decisions, at the strategic, tactical and operational levels, and the restructuring of the portfolio of foreign exchange reserves, which made it possible to take advantage of the increase in interest rates and the yield of securities in euros and to invest funds on more favourable terms.

The CBBH remains consistent with its investment policy in accordance with legally defined goals and objectives, which implies that the official foreign exchange reserves are primarily managed in a safe, and only then in a profitable manner, the CBBH announced.
