The central Eid ceremony of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque, where Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic delivered the Eid sermon. He stated that peace, unity, respect for neighbours, and the willingness to sacrifice for one another are the foundational values of faith and society, emphasizing that no trial is greater than God's mercy.

Speaking about life in Bosnia, Kavazovic pointed out that people live in peace with neighbours and friends, raising children, and helping the weak, sick, and poor. He noted that every inhabitant of the country can find themselves in the universal messages of equality and brotherhood, calling on people to organize life in the spirit of mutual trust.

“Let us leave behind divisions, setups, and deceptions because that is not a life worthy of a human being,” he urged.

Regarding the symbolism of Eid al-Adha, he explained that something must be sacrificed to gain something else, urging individuals to sacrifice selfishness and arrogance to gain love and trust. He specifically appealed for the preservation of the traditional Bosnian neighborhood concept.

“The neighborhood has always been the most important institution that kept us together and upon which we could rely in both difficulty and joy,” the Grand Mufti emphasized.

At the end of the sermon, Kavazovic congratulated all Muslims in Bosnia, the region, and the diaspora, praying that Allah accepts the Hajj and the sacrifices of the believers. He wished for them to spend Eid in peace and sent a prayer for global peace to prevail and for the suffering of innocent people to cease. This year, over Bosnian 2,200 citizens are among the millions performing the Hajj in Mecca.
