The Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Becirovic, has strongly condemned the Croatian parliament’s adoption of the resolution on the political status of Bosnian Croats, branding the move an unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.

In a sharp diplomatic rebuke, Becirovic declared that the resolution passed by the Sabor does not represent good-neighbourly cooperation. He emphasised that the Republic of Croatia has no right to intervene in the internal matters of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating that decisions regarding the country's domestic political and constitutional structure belong solely to its own state institutions, in accordance with the national constitution and laws.

The Presidency Chair grounded his critique in established international frameworks, warning that Croatia's actions breach fundamental global treaties. He pointed to Article 2 of the United Nations Charter, which guarantees the sovereign equality, political independence, and territorial integrity of member states.

Furthermore, Becirovic referenced the UN’s 1970 Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Co-operation among States, which strictly prohibits political, economic, or any other form of pressure aimed at influencing the sovereign decisions of another nation. He also cited the ten core principles of European security outlined in the 1975 Helsinki Final Act, which mandate non-intervention and mutual respect.

While asserting that Bosnia and Croatia share a mutual interest in developing relations based on good-neighbourly cooperation, Becirovic warned that international law cannot be applied selectively based on political convenience. He concluded that adhering to the principles of sovereignty and non-interference is not a matter of goodwill, but a binding international obligation for every state.
