Bosnia Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic and Sarayevo Mayor Benjamina Karic expressed support to the Jewish community in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday, stressing that they are an integral part of the Bosnian society and that there is no room for anti-Semitism in the country.

“BiH has always been one society, one culture, and Bosnian Jews have been part of it for more than five centuries,” Karic posted on her social network platforms following a meeting with head of Sarajevo-based Jewish cultural-educational and humanitarian association ‘La Benevolencija’ Vladimir Andrle and head of the Jewish Community Archive Eli Tauber, in company of Presidency Chairman Komsic and Deputy Mayor Samir Avdic.

“We expressed support to the Bosnian Jewish community, which is an integral part of our society. The collocutors agreed that anti-Semitism is absolutely unacceptable and is not a part of our tradition which is based on tolerance and coexistence,” added Karic.

The officials also agreed to continue the fight against anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.
