According to the 2022 Military Strength Ranking Power Index, the USA, Russia, China and India are the strongest military powers in the world. As for the Balkan region, Serbia is ranked the best, as the 61st country, while Bosnia and Herzegovina is far behind, ranked as the 123rd country.
Apart from the four strongest military powers, the annual report published by the American specialised website Global Firepower, also listed Japan, South Korea, France, Great Britain, Pakistan and Brazil among the top 10 countries.
In the region of the Balkans, Serbia is leading the way as the 61st country in the world, with a trend of increase of its military strength. It is followed by Croatia (62) and Slovenia (86), while Bosnia and Herzegovina was ranked as the 123rd country, ahead of Montenegro (132) and North Macedonia (135). Kosovo was ranked as the 140th out of the total of 142 countries in the list.
The finalized Global Firepower ranking utilises over 50 individual factors to determine a given nation's PowerIndex score with categories ranging from military might and financials to logistical capability and geography.
