Bosnia records slight dip in tourist visits in first eight months of 2025

Between January and August 2025, Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomed 1,327,394 tourist visits, marking a slight decrease of 0.02 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

Visits by domestic tourists fell by 3.3 percent, while visits by foreign tourists increased by 1.3 percent compared to last year.
During this period, tourists spent a total of 2,801,278 overnight stays, which represents a 0.1 percent decrease from the previous year. Domestic tourists accounted for 1.6 percent fewer overnight stays, while foreign tourists recorded a 0.5 percent increase.
Foreign visitors accounted for 71.6 percent of all overnight stays, while domestic tourists made up the remaining 28.4 percent.

Among foreign guests, the largest share of overnight stays came from visitors from Croatia (13.6 percent), Serbia (11 percent), Turkey (10.3 percent), Saudi Arabia (7 percent), Slovenia (5.4 percent), Germany (4.3 percent), China (3.6 percent), and the United States (3.2 percent), together representing 58.4 percent of total overnight stays. Tourists from other countries accounted for the remaining 41.6 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
In terms of accommodation, hotels and similar establishments dominated, representing 93.3 percent of all overnight stays.
