Bosnia squad gathers in Sarajevo ahead of four Nations League matches

The players will arrive at Hotel Malak throughout the day before holding their first training session at Grbavica Stadium at 5 pm. The Dragons will also train at Grbavica on Tuesday and Wednesday before travelling to Poland for the opening match of the new campaign.

After facing Poland away, Bosnia and Herzegovina will travel to Romania before returning home for matches against Sweden and Poland.

The October 2 encounter with Sweden in Zenica will carry particular significance as it is set to be Edin Dzeko's final appearance for the national team.

Injuries force changes to squad

Barbarez has already been forced to alter his original plans after losing two players to injury.

Amar Dedic has suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury and is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks, ruling him out of all four upcoming matches.

Kenan Busuladzic faces a much longer absence after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament, with his recovery expected to take around nine months.

Barbarez subsequently expanded his squad, calling up Benjamin Tahirovic, Ajdin Hasic, Arjan Malic and Luka Djuric.

With four matches in only 11 days, squad depth will be particularly important. National team director Emir Spahic said the search for players eligible to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly those playing across Europe, would continue.

"This is nowhere near the end. We are still working. We haven't had a break; we travelled and worked throughout the summer," Spahic said.

Dzeko set for Bosnia farewell

The upcoming international window will be Dzeko's last as an active Bosnia and Herzegovina international, with the long-time captain set to bid farewell against Sweden at Bilino Polje Stadium on October 2.

Barbarez said there was no predetermined plan for how long Dzeko would remain on the pitch in his final match.

Interest in the farewell has been enormous, with Bilino Polje selling out in just 14 minutes.

Before the emotional night in Zenica, however, Bosnia and Herzegovina face a demanding schedule, beginning with Monday's gathering and preparations in Sarajevo.
