Bosniak member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency Denis Becirovic told Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during his official visit to Sarajevo on Thursday that President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity Milorad Dodik is “seriously jeopardising the peace” and he called on the European Union to take necessary steps to prevent “undesired consequences.” After the meetings in Sarajevo, Orban is set to visit Republika Srpska entity administrative centre Banja Luka and meet Dodik.
After the meeting with his counterpart, Bosnian prime minister, formally the Chair of the Council of Ministers Borjana Kristo, Orban met with three members of Bosnia's Presidency to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries as well as Bosnia's EU path and situation in the region.
Bosniak Presidency member warned about Dodik's activities which, according to him, “seriously jeopardise the peace and the Dayton Peace Agreement.” He called on the EU as one of the witnesses of the peace deal, which ended the 1992-95 war, to “take necessary steps in order to prevent undesired consequences.”
“Becirovic openly said that the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina defended itself in the period from 1992 to 1995, during the brutal aggression and in much more difficult circumstances, and that legal bodies of the state and its patriots will stop the dissolution of the state, if the international community fails to do so,” according to a press release issued by Becirovic's office.
Orban said on this occasion that he respects sovereignty and integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that Hungary is interested in strengthening of the relations between the two countries.
BiH Presidency's Press Office said the Presidency members thanked the Hungary's official for the support to Bosnia's EU candidacy status, which was assessed as a strong incentive to the state institutions to continue reform processes-
They also informed Orban about regional initiatives and cooperation among the Western Balkan countries on their joint path to the EU.
The Hungary PM expressed full support to the EU integration of BiH and other countries of the region, stressing that Bosnia has a status of “honorary neighbour” in Hungary's foreign policy.
Later the same day, Orban is set to visit Banja Luka, Republika Srpska entity administrative centre, and the next day he will meet Dodik and other entity officials.
