Bosnian citizen killed, another injured in mass shooting in Sweden

The BiH Embassy in Stockholm has informed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Ministry that one Bosnian citizen was killed and another wounded in the mass shooting that occurred on February 4, 2025, in the Swedish city of Örebro.

These are unofficial reports received by the Embassy from the victims' family members, as Swedish authorities have yet to release the names of those killed in the attack, the ministry said in a statement.

The Bosnian Embassy in Stockholm remains in constant contact with relevant authorities and local officials in Sweden to keep the public in Bosnia informed about the situation in Örebro, given the large Bosnian community in the city.

Bosnia’s Foreign Ministry expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic attack in Örebro.

Mehmed Hasanbegovic, president of the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in Sweden and the local congregation in Örebro, confirmed to N1 that a Bosnian citizen was injured in the shooting, which left 11 people dead, including the attacker, who committed suicide.
