Bosnian citizen missing in Austria, found in forest after a long search

A Bosnian citizen with dementia disappeared on January 24th in Austria when his daughter reported that he had left his apartment without money, documents, and the insulin he needed to survive, and that she was unable to find him.

On January 24, at 15:45, the daughter of the missing person reported to the Friesach police station (Austria) that her father, who suffers from dementia and who came to visit from Bosnia on January 20, left the house on January 24, at 11:30 a.m. without cash, without documents and without the insulin that was necessary for his life and that she could no longer find him.

Dog handlers and emergency assistants from the Carinthian Samaritan Association's rescue dog squad as well as local firefighters were first assigned search sectors.

The K9 trailers of the Carinthian Samaritan Association's search dog squad followed in the direction of the southern forest area of ​​Vellach, after which the dog handlers and their search dogs set off into the search area.














Around 8 p.m., members of the local hunting society discovered footprints in the snow on the Vellacherberg.

Firefighters brought the RHS operational unit of the Carinthian Samaritan Association to the impassable area of ​​the search.

The missing person was subsequently found and rescued by the RHS ambulance team of the Carinthian Samaritan Association lying injured and suffering from frostbite in the forest at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level at minus 7 degrees.
