Convicted war criminal and former commander of the ‘Convict Battalion’ Mladen Naletilic Tuta with whom he fought in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina had died on Friday at the age of 75 from a heart attack, Hina news agency reported Friday.
His former comrade-in-arms confirmed that Naletilic died at the University Clinical Hospital in Mostar, where he spent several days due to the consequences of a severe heart attack.
Mladen Naletilic Tuta was born on December 1, 1946, in the south-Bosnian town of Siroki Brijeg.
In 2003, the Hague Tribunal sentenced him to 20 years in prison for crimes committed against Bosniaks in Herzegovina.
He served two-thirds of his sentence, and after leaving for Croatia, a lawsuit was filed against him for inciting the 1995 murder of Damir Brekal.
Last year, he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
