The 5.7-magnitude earthquake that hit larger parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina late Friday night claimed life of a 28-year-old girl. The number of people who are reporting mostly minor injuries at local hospitals is increasing hourly.
The girl was severely injured at her home in Stolac, the southern town that was the epicentre of the earthquake, after a rock collapsed onto their house due to the quake. She succumbed to injuries at a Mostar hospital.
Anadolu Agency earlier reported that two persons were admitted to the Mostar Cantonal Hospital, reporting minor injuries, while at least one injured person was reported at the Stolac healthcare institute.
Local media and officials across Herzegovina region confirmed information about minor injuries among people as they were leaving their homes in panic.
According to the preliminary information, the quake epicentre was 15 kilometres from Stolac but was felt across Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the neighbouring countries.
Here are first images of Southern town of #Mostar where are teams will be heading to in just a bit. The extent of destruction and/or possible casualties are yet to be accounted for. Hopefully no harm done. Wish us luck! @adisa_imamovic @N1info https://t.co/nouIBLoyoR
