During the Bled Strategic Forum on September 3, 2024, Bosnian Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic met with Stephen Doughty, UK Minister of State for Europe and North America, as part of a series of bilateral meetings. Minister Konakovic expressed gratitude for the UK’s strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty and its active role in addressing regional challenges.

The ministers discussed ongoing political and security issues in Bosnia and the region, emphasizing the importance of the UK Parliament’s discussions on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in the context of the House of Lords’ report on international relations and defense.

They also explored future plans for bilateral cooperation, focusing on various forms of development aid, including projects aimed at strengthening the rule of law, democracy, human rights protection, education, employment, and social policy.

Minister Doughty, responsible for UK-EU relations and cooperation with organizations like OSCE, the Council of Europe, and NATO, discussed the continuation of collaboration between Bosnia and the UK. Minister Konaković thanked the UK for its contribution to NATO projects that enhance Bosnia and Herzegovina's defense capacities.
