Milan Matkovic and several others who were arrested for drug trafficking, and who are currently in custody in the State Prison in Vojkovici, went on a hunger strike by sewing their mouth shut.
Prison warden Sinisa Perkovic confirmed this information for N1.
“It happened this morning and he is now receiving medical treatment to heal the injury. They are protesting because of certain things concerning the BiH Court, that an injustice has been committed against them. We are not clear about what exactly is at stake, but I know that it has nothing to do with our treatment of them in prison,” stated Perkovic.
He went on to add that Matkovic and the others went on a hunger strike on Thursday because they are protesting against the violation of human rights because they, allegedly, believe that they don’t have the right to an impartial trial and investigation, and all because of media pressure, including other high-ranking local and international officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Milan Matkovic was arrested in July last year in Trebinje, and he is linked to the international smuggling of large quantities of cocaine, preparations for liquidations, as well as other crimes in Bosnia the countries of the region, the European Union and overseas.
