A Bosnian national was injured in the mass shooting at the Risbergska school in Örebro, Sweden, where 11 people were killed, including the attacker who took his own life. This was confirmed to N1 by Mehmed Hasanbegovic, the president of the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in Sweden and the local Örebro congregation.

Swedish police stated on Tuesday that the shooting, which took place approximately 200 kilometres west of Stockholm, left multiple people wounded. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but investigators believe the suspect, who was among the deceased and previously unknown to authorities, acted alone.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the incident as “the most severe armed attack in Sweden’s history,” calling it a “painful day” for the nation. Meanwhile, King Carl XVI Gustav extended his condolences to the families of the victims, according to Reuters.

In recent years, Sweden has experienced a surge in gun violence and bombings linked to organized crime, making it the EU country with the highest per capita rate of firearm-related incidents.
