Law enforcement officers from the Tuzla Canton Police Department have successfully identified and documented 20 criminal offences related to false bomb threats that were reported across Tuzla and Kalesija during October. This breakthrough follows extensive operational work, conducted in coordination with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA), the Federation (FBiH) entity’s Police Administration, and the Sarajevo Canton Police, under the supervision of the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office.
As part of the investigation, a minor from Sarajevo has been identified as a suspect for issuing multiple fake bomb threats targeting high schools in Tuzla through email. Authorities submitted a report to the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office on October 28, 2024, implicating the suspect in six counts of “Causing Public Threats” under Article 323 of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Criminal Code.
On October 22, 2024, another hoax reported bombs planted in a police station and a school in Kalesija. With support from the OSA, the authorities, identified and detained a 22-year-old individual, A.A., in connection with this incident. He has been handed over to the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of committing the offense of “Endangering Security” under Article 183 of the Criminal Code.
Additionally, four minors have been identified for allegedly making false bomb threats via phone, targeting high schools in Tuzla. These individuals face charges of “Misuse of Distress Signals” under Article 372 of the FBiH Criminal Code, with a total of 13 incidents documented in relation to this offense.
Police have stated that once the case files are complete, all necessary evidence will be submitted to the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office to proceed with charges against the individuals involved.
