Bosnian rescuers who helped save lives in Turkey welcomed as heroes upon return

The rescuers who left Bosnia and Herzegovina for Turkey immediately after the devastating earthquakes to help search and rescue efforts were welcomed by many citizens and their family members as heroes when they returned home on Sunday.

The members of the Mountain Rescue Service of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity who participated in the rescue operations in Hatay were greeted with applause.
Their family members and numerous citizens told N1 that they were extremely proud of these brave people who travelled to Turkey to do their best to save as many lives as possible.

A similar scene could be seen at the Center for demining and UXO removal operations in Azici in the Ilidza neighbourhood, where members of the FBiH Civil Protection authority arrived from Turkey in the afternoon. They were also welcomed by numerous proud citizens and family members.

Members of the Civil Protection authority in BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity who bravely assisted local rescuers in Turkey are also expected to arrive home on Sunday.
