Dusanka Majkic, one of the Serb representatives in Bosnia’s House of Peoples, noted that Moscow stated last year that Russia will take action in case Bosnia and Herzegovina takes steps to join NATO.
“Moscow said in March 2021 that it would react if Bosnia and Herzegovina takes steps towards joining NATO. Don't say later that you didn't know,” Majkic wrote on Twitter.
Majkic is a member of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), the party of BiH Presidency member, Milorad Dodik. The SNSD, as well as most Bosnian Serb politicians, have expressed strong opposition to the idea of BiH joining NATO.
The statement comes as Russian forces are advancing toward Kyiv in Ukraine. Russia demands that Ukraine never becomes a NATO member.
Another member of the SNSD, Srdjan Mazalica, expressed support for Russia in the ongoing conflict on Thursday.
