Bosnia's State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) is looking for Miodrag Mitrasinovic, a convicted war criminal after he escaped from a hospital on the day of his sentencing, SIPA told N1 on Tuesday.

Namely, SIPA has issued a warrant for Mitrasinovic, who is missing from the University Hospital in Foca, where he was on the day of the verdict in the “Strpca” case, for which he was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

“We had information that he was in the Hospital in Foca. All traces of him are lost from the hospital. When we received this information, we issued a search warrant, and all police agencies in BiH were informed about it, and they are obliged to detain him if he gets identified,” SIPA spokeswoman Jelena Miovcic told N1.

After a full seven years of trial, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a first-instance verdict in which seven former members of the Army of the Republika Srpska (VRS) were sentenced to a total of 91 years in prison for their participation in the kidnapping of 20 civilians from a train in Strpci on February 27, 1993, who were killed in the area of Visegrad. Luka Dragicevic was acquitted of having issued the order to kidnap the civilians.
