Bosnian youth centre ‘Most Mira’ wins prestigious award in Venice

Prijedor based Youth Center “Most Mira (Bridge of Peace) - a sustainable cultural and artistic centre that will be built with the technology called rammed earth - which brings together divided communities in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, won the Lafarge-Holcim foundations Silver Medal for the European Region.

This prestigious international award is given by the Swiss Lafarge-Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction. The award includes a trophy and $ 50,000 in financial support that will financially contribute to the construction of the Center, which is scheduled to begin in 2022.

This project, which was also the finalist of the global award given by the same foundation "Cycle 2021" is a beacon of peace and sustainability in the Balkans.

The project is located between two ethnically separated villages in Prijedor: Kevljani and Petrovo Gaj, near the former Omarska concentration camp. In the past twelve years, Most Mira has gathered over 1,500 youths and volunteers of all ethnicities at this location through the organization of art festivals and other programs.
