Bosnia’s Armed Forces boost electronic warfare capabilities with new anti-drone procurement

Amid escalating global security complexities and growing threats posed by unmanned aerial systems, the signing ceremony took place at the Armed Forces HQ in Sarajevo. Minister Helez expressed profound gratitude to ASELSAN, its leadership, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler, highlighting that this agreement represents the third substantial technological contribution extended by the Turkish enterprise to the national military.

Recalling prior bilateral milestones, Helez noted that previous acquisitions included four hundred tactical radio devices and an advanced Kangal anti-drone system, complemented by the latest intake of ten specialized anti-drone rifles. The defense minister emphasized that these defense assets are crucial for safeguarding military installations, state defense industry infrastructure, and vital national assets against modern aerial vulnerabilities.

Looking ahead, Helez announced that future discussions are already planned regarding the acquisition of two additional anti-drone systems, an expansion projected to elevate the operational standards of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina to parity with regional counterparts.

ASELSAN Chief Executive Officer Ahmet Akyol underscored the critical necessity of modern counter-unmanned systems during a period marked by sharp global increases in aerial threats. Akyol also confirmed that executive delegations held constructive consultations with domestic defense sector enterprises to explore avenues for industrial collaboration.

He reaffirmed that Turkey remains dedicated to supporting friendly partner nations while fostering local economic growth and trade expansion. Highlighting ASELSAN's standing as Europe's fifth most valuable defense corporation, Akyol pledged continued technological support for long-term peace and stability.
