Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez, reacted to the large-scale protests that took place in Serbia against the ruling government of President Aleksandar Vucic.

Helez described the demonstrations as a powerful statement against injustice and repression, emphasizing that a sea of people peacefully and with dignity raised their voices against oppression.

"The student-led protests, joined by all segments of Serbian society, are the largest in the country’s history. Citizens are demanding a democratic and free Serbia, where freedom is shared by all and justice is absolute and indivisible," Helez stated.

He went on to draw a parallel between Serbia’s government under Vucic and Republika Srpska’s leader Milorad Dodik.

"The regimes of Aleksandar Vucic in Serbia and Milorad Dodik in Bosnia and Herzegovina are two heads of the same beast. Change is inevitable. Both regimes are counting their final days," Helez asserted.

He also directly addressed President Vucic, calling on him to step down.

"I urge Vucic to preserve at least some dignity, listen to the people, and resign before his citizens remove him by force. I sincerely hope these protests will bring about a new Serbia, where the system itself is changed—not just the face of power," he concluded.

The massive demonstrations in Serbia, primarily led by students, have been ongoing for months. Protesters are demanding accountability for the collapse of a railway station canopy in Novi Sad, which claimed 15 lives. They are calling for those responsible to be held accountable and for the public release of project documentation related to the station, which has so far remained undisclosed.
