The Government of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity adopted a decision to limit the price of wood pellets in order to “protect the economic interests of citizens” and prevent unrealistic prices and unfair behavior of individual producers and traders.

The decision enters into force on November 12, and it is understood that the price of one ton of pellets will be 480 Bosnian Marks. With VAT included, the price should amount to about 560.00 Bosnian Marks.

BiH’s other semi-autonomous entity, Republika Srpska (RS), adopted the same decision previously.

The FBiH Trade Ministry proposed the measure to ensure “the prevention and suppression of unrealistic price determination and possible unfair behavior of individual producers and traders of pellets, protection of the economic interests of citizens and enable orderly supply of the market.”

In the explanation, it was also noted that in the past period, the business policies of pellet producers and traders were primarily oriented towards export, with the aim of achieving maximum profit while not paying enough attention to meeting the needs of the domestic market, both in terms of quantity and price.
